The Mules (9-12, 6-8) had dropped five straight conference games since an impressive 5-3 conference start. Muhlenberg was never really threatened by the Garnet (3-18, 2-12) and led comfortably throughout the contest. Aided by Stewarts 10 first-half points, the Mules had a 35-23 advantage at halftime. The lead ballooned to 22 on a basket by Stewart with 5:29 remaining in the game, and the Mules were able to hold off the Garnet the rest of the way. It was the 13th double-double of the season for Stewart, one shy of the Centennial Conference single-season record. Senior Dennis Severino turned in a near perfect performance for the Mules. Severino scored a season-high 11 points in only 17 minutes off the bench. He was 3-for-3 from three-point range and also 2-for-2 from the foul line. |
