Sophomore Justin Fields scored a season-high seven points in only six minutes of action. |
The Chowan mens basketball team scored the final five points of the
game to hand Muhlenberg a 68-63 loss in the first game of the Mules
southern swing.
In a tight game that featured 13 lead changes and no lead of greater than seven points, Muhlenberg (5-3) went ahead, 60-59, on a layup by freshman Greg Pask with 4:46 to play. The Mules did not make another field goal the rest of the way, however, missing their final eight shots. Pask made the first of two free throws with 2:08 on the clock to knot the score at 63. The Braves (4-7), who are moving to Division II next year, went ahead for good on a basket with 1:31 left, then added a free throw and a breakaway dunk for the final margin. After shooting 50 percent or better in its last four games, Muhlenberg shot a season-low 33.9 percent from the field and made just four of 25 three-point attempts. Pask scored a career-high 13 points to lead Muhlenberg. Sophomore Jeff Stewart notched his sixth double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. |
