men’s tennis: new faces, same outcome
The Muhlenberg men’s tennis team registered its second victory in as many days, defeating hosting Penn State Berks, 5-4.
Muhlenberg (2-1) featured an almost entirely different lineup from the one that steamrolled DeSales, 9-0, yesterday.
Freshman Jason Kirschenbaum had a crucial contribution to Mules’ success, as he went undefeated in both his singles and doubles matches,
while recording his first career dual-meet wins.
At No. 6 singles, the Weston, Conn., native defeated Chris Chilla in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. In partnership with junior Tim Ness (right),
Kirschenbaum secured an 8-2 success at No. 3 doubles, which prevented a Berks sweep of the doubles competition.
Freshman Dan Zakheim (No. 2 singles), senior Jamie Goldman (No. 3 singles) and freshman Wayne Mitchel (No. 4 singles) also claimed wins for the Mules
