Summer story list
The new Life Sports Center was humming with activity this week as the Muhlenberg fall athletes reported for preseason camp. Mule Sports Daily will begin its normal daily schedule on Monday. |
The new main entrance to the Life Sports Center faces the rest of campus. All the other doors will remain locked, except when there are athletic events in Memorial Hall. The main entrance is to the right, where a group of athletes can be seen. The door at the left (under the first window) leads to the Health Center. |
This is the view inside the main entrance. At the immediate left is a control desk. All users must show proper identification to gain access to the building. Behind the control desk and taking up most of the length of the hall is the weight room. To the right is the Fieldhouse. At the end of the corridor are plasma screen TVs (more on them below). To the left of the TVs is the Life Sports Center Café. |
The weight room is not yet fully stocked, although it does contain 52 pairs of Iron Grip urethane dumbbells and several machines. When complete, it will have eight power racks with platforms and more than 30 pieces of selectorized equipment. |
The Life Sports Center Café is open for business. |
The plasma screen TV to the left will show short videos on Muhlenbergs varsity athletic programs. The one on the right will be a regular TV. |
This is the Upper Level corridor, looking in the opposite direction of the above picture of the Main Level corridor. At the end of the hallway is a conference room open to all campus groups. Taking a right-hand turn before the conference-room doors leads to the Athletic Department offices. To the right of the photographer is the new cardio center. |
| The cardio center contains: 12 treadmills, 10 ellipticals, four arc trainers, a rower, bikes, steppers, an upper body ergometer, boxing station, inverted stretching station, physio balls and medicine balls and a handicap accessible strength training station. Users can listen to the TV broadcasts on their FM radios. The window behind the boxing station looks into Alumni Pool. |
| The athletic training office is fully functional on the Lower Level. A ramp and staircase lead from Scotty Wood Stadium to the Lower Level, which also contains the Mule locker rooms and an equipment room. The athletic training office has a large taping station in the middle as well as a room for hydrotherapy. |
