ALL-CENTENNIAL CONFERENCE SOFTBALL
Sarno, DeFrain Earn Second-Team Honors |
|
The left side of the Muhlenberg softball teams infield has been named
to the All-Centennial Conference first team.
Senior shortstop Becki Toth was selected by the leagues coaches after leading the Mules and ranking sixth in the CC with a .379 average. She also had an on-base percentage of .453, good for fourth in the Conference. Toth, who hit .458 in CC games, is one of just 10 players in league history to land on the first team three times; she missed out only in 2002, when her season was cut short by an early injury. Senior third base Jackie Maser earned her first first-team honor after receiving second-team accolades in both 2001 and 2002. She hit .315 overall (.396 in CC games) and tied a school record with 13 doubles. Maser was fifth in the CC with 24 RBI. She ended the season on a tear, driving in 10 runs and rapping out seven extra-base hits in the final nine games. Also honored by the CC were second-team selections Nicole Sarno and Missy DeFrain. Sarno, who started in center and earned All-CC honors all four years, hit .361 and led the team in hits (43) and runs scored (30). DeFrain, a sophomore who played first base in her first year as a starter, batted .330 with 18 RBI. The Mules finished the season 21-12, reaching the 20-win mark for the fourth time in six years and the eighth time overall. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
