Program Overview The Muhlenberg College lacrosse team plays on the schools new state-of-the-art AstroTurf facility. Although the Mules have struggled to win games in the tough Centennial Conference, they have a recent history of playing close games and are looking to add the depth that will enable them to come away with victories. The team maintains a roster of about 20 players, successfully blending newcomers and lacrosse diehards. Several players who did not play lacrosse in high school have made significant contributions to the team. Muhlenbergs 15-game schedule begin in mid-March and ends in early May. The Mules conference opponents include perennial powerhouses Gettysburg and Ursinus, both of which were ranked in the top 20 at the end of the 2002 season. There is an informal fall practice season for those athletes who do not play fall sports. |

History
Womens lacrosse at Muhlenberg evolved from a popular and successful
club team organized in 1980, earning varsity status in 1984. The most
successful teams were in 1987 (6-5, the first winning record) and 1997 (a
school-record seven wins).
Mule players have earned All-Conference status 24 times and All-Regional honors seven times. Muhlenberg sent a representative to the Division III North-South All-Star Game in four consecutive seasons from 1996 to 1999.
2002 Season Highlights
Despite records of 4-11 overall and 2-7 in the Centennial
Conference, which were similar to last year's 3-11 and 2-7 marks, there
were definite signs of progress for Muhlenberg in 2002. The Mules were
close to tying the school record of seven wins in a season, dropping three
games by a single goal. They made up for some of the heartbreak in the
season finale, coming back from a late two-goal deficit to defeat
Dickinson in overtime.
Twice during the season, against Bryn Mawr and Dickinson, Muhlenberg
had four different players record hat tricks. That hadnt happened
since 1998.
Freshman goalkeeper Diana Bleakley set a school record with 252
saves. She had three games with 20 or more stops, including a
school-record-tying 28 against eventual CC champion Gettysburg.
Junior Lynsey Caldwell set school records for assists in a season
(19) and career (49) and surpassed the 100-point mark for her career.
Senior Teresa Lunardi, the lone senior on the squad, led Muhlenberg
with 46 points and finished her career sixth on the programs all-time
list with 91 goals.
