October 5: Mazzola honored by CC Senior David Mazzola (right) of the Muhlenberg football team was named Centennial Conference special teams co-player of the week ... Also, a pair of Mule men’s tennis freshmen won their doubles draw at the ITA Regional.

October 4: Football escapes to remain undefeated The Muhlenberg football team extended its regular-season winning streak to 15 with a tight 28-23 win at Johns Hopkins. Senior Joe Caporoso (left) caught his first career touchdown pass, giving the Mules the lead for good.

October 4: Men’s soccer ties No. 23 Johns Hopkins The Muhlenberg men’s soccer team ended a challenging part of its schedule with a scoreless draw at Johns Hopkins ... Also, three women’s teams lost at Dickinson, and men’s tennis advanced a doubles team to a final at the ITA Regional.

October 3: Men’s cross country impressive at Paul Short The Muhlenberg men’s cross country team finished fourth out of 41 teams at the Paul Short Run, besting two teams ranked higher in the region. Senior Timothy VanSyckle (right) scored his second straight top-10 finish at the meet, placing fourth.

October 2: Faust wins Weikert Award Muhlenberg track and field standout Alex Faust (left) was honored at halftime of the Homecoming football game.

October 1: Men’s golf second again The Muhlenberg men’s golf team earned its second straight runner-up finish at the Messiah Falcon Classic. Senior Bill Snow (right) tied for fourth with a 3-over-par 75 ... Also, men’s soccer had its winning streak snapped at Dickinson, 1-0, and volleyball and field hockey suffered 3-1 home losses to Haverford.

September 30: Women’s soccer drives away Fords Freshman Jamie Weiss (left) and junior Kasey Hacker scored second-half goals as the Muhlenberg women’s soccer team defeated 2007 Centennial Conference playoff qualifier Haverford, 2-0 ... Also, football and men’s soccer climb in the polls.

September 29: Honors, title for Mule duos Sophomore Matthew Cecconi (left) was one of two members of the Muhlenberg men’s soccer team to be named Centennial Conference player of the week ... Sophomore Lindsay Schmidt (right) was half of a Mule women’s tennis duo that finished first at the ITA Southeast Regional.

September 28: Cresta earns CC honor Junior Phil Cresta (right) was named Centennial Conference offensive player of the week after catching two touchdown passes in the Muhlenberg football team’s 42-21 win against Gettysburg.

September 27: Football wins CC opener Senior Edward DeRisi (left) caught a career-high five passes, including a touchdown, as the Muhlenberg football team opened defense of its 2007 Centennial Conference championship with a 42-21 win against Gettysburg.

September 27: Men’s soccer, field hockey post wins Senior Steven Tenenzapf (right) was involved in all three goals in Muhlenberg’s 3-0 men’s soccer win against regionally ranked Gettysburg ... Also, field hockey beat Widener, men’s golf narrowly missed a tournament title, and women’s tennis started play at the ITA Regional.
