The movie "Jerry Maguire" has a now infamous scene where
Jerry's one
and only client makes a statement loud and clear that most Financial Aid
professionals are hearing more frequently from prospective students and
their parents: "Show Me the Money!" It is our hope that as you learn
more about the financial aid process, "finding the money" or resources
to make higher education affordable is well within the reach of each and
every family.
What will be important to recognize from the onset is that Muhlenberg
College treats this process as a partnership. We will do our best to
treat families fairly. Our goal is to provide access to the College.
The families' goal in this partnership should be to provide funding for
college expense TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY ARE ABLE. If you view this
process as a three-legged stool (Family, Muhlenberg, Federal and State
Government) the results are clear: without one of the legs supporting
the process the stool does not have the ability to stand on its own. It
is worth noting, however, that the legs in this scenario DO NOT have to
be of equal value.
This Web site was designed to help families understand the process of
applying for and receiving financial assistance. It is the desire of the
Office of Financial Aid at Muhlenberg College to be a partner in this
process. Please do not hesitate to contact us or meet with one of our
counselors in person. We may not have all the answers but we will do our
best to "show you the money".
